THE HEM OF HIS GARMENT<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Many of our people desire to learn the culture of their forefathers, and one main question they often ask is how they dressed. The heavenly Father gave all Israelite\u2019s a dress code according to:<\/p>\n

Numbers 15:<\/strong><\/p>\n

V37-<\/em><\/strong> And the Lord Spake unto Moses, saying<\/em><\/p>\n

v38-<\/em><\/strong> speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the border of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue<\/em>:<\/p>\n

v39-<\/em><\/strong> And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring<\/em>:<\/p>\n

v40-<\/em><\/strong> That ye may remember and do all my commandments and be holy unto your God<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Israelite communities across the world honor this Law as did the Israelites during the time of\u00a0Christ<\/strong>. Hypocrisy was the only problem\u00a0Christ<\/strong>\u00a0had with certain leaders.<\/p>\n

Matthew 23:<\/strong><\/p>\n

V5-<\/em><\/strong> But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders of their garments<\/em>.<\/p>\n

V28-<\/em><\/strong> Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Israelite sisters were also reminded of this in<\/p>\n

1 Timothy 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n

V9-<\/em><\/strong> In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety<\/em>,<\/p>\n

The new covenant in\u00a0Christ<\/strong>\u00a0gives us a willing heart and mind to be obedient to the\u00a0Most High\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0laws.<\/p>\n

Matthew 14:<\/strong><\/p>\n

V35-<\/em><\/strong> And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased<\/em>;<\/p>\n

V36- <\/strong>And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mark 6:<\/strong><\/p>\n

v56-<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cborder<\/em>\u201d of his garment has the same translation for \u201cfringe<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

1 John 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n

V5-<\/em><\/strong> But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him<\/em>.<\/p>\n

v6-<\/em><\/strong> He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Christ<\/strong>\u00a0wore the fringes and we walk as He walked, yes in love and obedience to\u00a0God\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0Laws. Then surely the\u00a0Most High<\/strong>\u00a0can still use the law of fringes to remind us of the commandments today. Fringes also allow us to recognize other obedient Israelites and give us an opportunity to teach the gospel when asked why we wear them.<\/p>\n

There is mercy in\u00a0Christ<\/strong>; many of us may have strict job settings that don\u2019t allow us to wear fringes to be seen, the\u00a0Lord<\/strong>\u00a0knows and understands. Just as\u00a0Queen Esther<\/strong>\u00a0had to wear the Persian woman\u2019s apparel and crown which she hated.
\nIn the\u00a0Apocrypha<\/strong><\/p>\n

Esther 14:<\/strong><\/p>\n

v15-<\/em><\/strong> Thou knowest all things, O Lord; thou knowest that I hate the glory of the unrighteous, and abhor the bed of the uncircumcised, and of all the heathen<\/em>.<\/p>\n

v16-<\/em><\/strong> Thou knowest my necessity: for I abhor the sign of my high estate, which is upon mine head in the days wherein I shew myself, and that I abhor it as a menstruous rag, and that I wear it not when I am private by myself<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be ashamed to keep the Law of the\u00a0Most High<\/strong>\u00a0concerning fringes when you\u2019re at liberty to do so.<\/p>\n

Luke 9:<\/strong><\/p>\n

V26-<\/em><\/strong> For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father\u2019s, and of the holy angels<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s remember;<\/p>\n

Matthew 4:<\/strong><\/p>\n
